Letting Go

I sat by a country kitchen over looking a beautiful garden. There was a huge oak table and ten of the wisest friends I could ever meet. These were the senior residents at a facility in MD. We had some poetry books out and soft meditation music playing in the back ground. The window was open as a cool breeze danced off the trees supplying a spring scent.

Letting Go was the topic. I brought it up thinking about sharing how to let go of the personal story we all carry around to open up home.

The response I recieved was that to them letting go meant the death of their loved ones. Husbands, friends, and a goodbye to independence.

So I went into this feeling and emotions and we explored.

We talked about what happens after we lose that relationship? Is there freedome? Is there more of it? We talked about memories and I shared with them how to taste the nector of the memory yet also see that thoughts never touch us. They got it!

We talked about getting back to the basics of life. Returning to nature and how happiness just appears.

They residents thumbed through the poetry book I gave them and picked poems out for us to explore. And that we did. Here is one poem they liked a lot.

Happiness

Happiness is a gentle state of Peace

The state of Peace can be found in everthing

from Pachelbel to the jackhammer

Dont chase happiness

You will never catch it

Stop and feel it, its right Here its You.

The best part of the class was one lady who wanted to keep my book of poems. She had that inquisitive look upon her as she was now exploring. I could see her thoughts digging within her being to capture something that has been there all of her life. She was slowly opening

I have four facilities that are excited about this class. I am also working to take it to teens in the troubled youth centers and businesses for the busy and stressed out moms. As of now that is just a thought though.
